Caribbean Vacation Packing List
Suggested items to pack for your St. John vacation
The first time you come to St. John, you'll probably over pack and only use about half of what you brought. The the following list is suggested for most our St. John villas because of the ammenities available to you. (Ask the rental agent for the specifics) St. John is informal and relaxed. Keep that in mind when packing and don't forget the important items listed below.
What to pack:
- Sun screen
- Shorts
- Shirts
- Bathing suits and coverups (It's actually illegal to walk around with just a bathing suit on.)
- Sandals
- Hiking shoes if you plan on hiking some of the hilly trails.
- A hat
- If you are coming during the winter, you might want to bring long pants and a warm shirt or light jacket for the cooler evenings. All other clothing is optional, since there are virtually no places on the island with a dress code. A collared shirt is nice for dinner, although your shorts and sandals are acceptable.
- Sun glasses
- Tooth brush and paste
- Shaver
- Camera (If you are staying at Coral and Blue, you can use the computer at the villa to burn your pictures to a CD.)
- Snorkel, dive mask, and fins (you can buy or rent them on the island if you don't have any)
- DVD's and CD's
- Picture ID (like a driver's license) and a birth certifcate with a raised seal, or a passport. (Check with your airline for the current rules)
- Prescription medication
- Travelers checks
- Car rental reservation forms (if you've arranged for one)
What NOT to pack
- Soap or shampoo (unless you have a favorite kind)
- Hair dryer
- Towels
- Formal attire
- Heavy clothes
- Beach towels
- Beach chairs
